Mindfulness Audio Files:

Apps: There seems to be a new meditation app born every week. Tricycle Magazine does a quarterly review which you might find helpful. The ones mentioned below are the ones several of us use. If you use one and LOVE it, let us know why and we can post here as an option for folks to consider.

  • Insight Meditation Timer: This is a very useful app that helps you to time your meditation sessions. You can also track your progress and connect with other meditators all over the world if you like.

  • Plum Village Meditation App: A beautiful, free app designed by the Thich Nhat Hanh community.

  • Headspace: This is an excellent app that helps to demystify the practice of mindfulness, offering step-by-step instruction, funny animation to illustrate key practices, etc. Check out the October 2015 Radio West/Doug Fabrizio interview with creator, Andy Puddicombe.

  • Mindfulness: Very straightforward and especially helpful for beginners. Cost is $1.99.

  • Stop, Breathe, and Think: Another recently released mindfulness app. This one is FREE and feels appropriate for adolescents and adults.

 Meditation Retreats:

This list of retreat centers is not meant to be exclusive or complete.  The intention and format of the retreat you choose, and the background of the teacher, is more important than the name of the retreat center.  This list is the same offered by the Center for Mindfulness at UMASS for those interested in MBSR and other mindfulness-based training programs.

Your true home is in the here and now.
